Food centres in mature estates are usually teeming with good hawker fare. In Beach Road food centre, there are many choices. There's the Chung Cheng Chilli Noodle, Soup Tulang that Anthony Bourdain came to eat, the Arh Bo Leng that seems to be around since the birth of this food centre. There's the new kid on the block like Mr Baguette. This time, dad and mum ask us to join them for lunch and introduced us to the Golden Mile Special Yong Tau Foo (#B1-44) that was pretty good. The good thing about the yong tau foo here is that there's nothing really special about it. It was simple, home made and the soup had a clean taste just like the home made yong tau foo at a Tiong Poh Road coffee shop that HY used to bring me. HY had the Hainanese Boneless Chicken Rice (#B1-35). The rice was oily, the chicken was oily but very tender. The heck to the preconception of extra oil! The rice was fragrant, tasty and so was the chicken. |
